Lethbridge 2025 harvest sees good results despite dryness

While southern Alberta farmers are still working on the 2025 harvest, some of the early returns appear to be positive.

Ken Coles, CEO of Farming Smarter, says the season started off quite dry, and it was an early spring.

So, a lot of farmers in eastern Alberta planted early. Normally that’s a good thing, but this year it wasn’t.

And while conditions remained dry across much of southern and eastern Alberta, Coles says the Lethbridge area saw better outcomes.

Some of the major types of crops grown in southern Alberta include wheat, potatoes, sugar beets and beans, and alfalfa and canola.
