$287M water expansion proposal presented to Lethbridge Council

Lethbridge City Council has been presented with a $287M business case for a regional water and wastewater expansion that could support up to 22,000 new homes, create more than 44,000 jobs across Alberta and open about 4,000 hectares of land in southeast Lethbridge for future development.

On Tuesday, during a Community Issues Committee meeting, the project was presented to City Council and included a $95.6-million funding request from the Alberta government. If approved, it could increase the city’s water treatment capacity to 180 million litres per day.
