Will Lethbridge revisit the need for a third bridge?

Due to the heavy traffic delays created on Wednesday by the Whoop-Up Bridge incident, many were wondering if a third vehicular bridge would be built. In 2022, Lethbridge City Council voted unanimously to accept an Administration Submission on the Third Bridge River Crossing Review. Preliminary traffic volumes from the City’s Travel Demand Model, being updated for the Transportation Master Plan in 2023, suggest that a third vehicular river crossing may be needed sometime between 2030 and 2040. Bridge City News asked Joel Sanchez, the city’s Director of Infrastructure Services and this is what he said.

A non-binding ballot question in the 2021 municipal election asked voters what they thought and 60% said they wanted a 3rd bridge to be built.
