Medicine Hat prepares to host Special Olympics Canada Summer games

The southern Alberta city of Medicine Hat is preparing to host this year’s Special Olympics Canada Summer Games.

The games will bring in 1700 athletes and coaches from across Canada to compete in 10 sports for five days in August. On Monday, the city recognized contributors and sponsors who are supporting more than $2 million towards the event. The city says it’s that kind of support from community members and roughly 1700 volunteers that make the sporting event possible.

The games will run from August 11th to the 15th.
