Traffic impacts coming to Columbia Boulevard West

Drivers travelling on Columbia Boulevard West can expect further traffic disruptions starting on Tuesday.  The work is part of the City of Lethbridge’s 2026 Intersection Improvement program. Crews will be installing a new flashing beacon pedestrian signal, curb extensions and upgraded street lighting. From September 8 to 12, traffic will be reduced to a single lane in both directions, controlled by temporary signals.

From September 14 to 18, two-way traffic will return with reduced lane widths as paving work takes place. Another single-lane restriction is expected from September 18 to 23 as crews work on the north side of the road. Intermittent disruptions and changes to pedestrian access are expected through late September and early October. Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians are reminded to follow all posted signs and traffic control devices in the construction area.
