Town of Vegreville lending a helping hand to Ukraine

The Town of Vegreville Alberta has a large contingent of Ukrainian people. The mayor of the town says the war in Ukraine is really affecting many in his community. Tim MacPhee says many of their residents are first-generation Ukrainians and they are doing their part to help the victims of war.

“We have a sister municipality in Ukraine, another city and it’s called Kolomiya. We raising some donations and some supplies that they need. A plane just went over directly, went over to Kolomiya on Thursday taking equipment and firefighting gear that was collected in Alberta. Right now we are just collecting some stuff, personal toiletries, and clothes, and stuff for the woman and children that left the country,” said Tim MacPhee, Mayor of the Town of Vegreville.

MacPhee says a school in the town will also be holding a perogy lunch to raise funds for Ukraine.
