Suspicious package found to be just documents

It was a bit of an uneasy start to a Monday morning as at least 11 different businesses had to be evacuated at the West Lethbridge Town Centre on University Drive West.

Lethbridge Police were notified that an unknown person had left several packages at H&R Block over the weekend indicating the contents were important and they would return to retrieve them. When the business opened this morning, staff noticed the boxes were still there and one of them had an image of an explosive device displayed on the outside. Police were called and evacuated the entire strip mall while they brought in their explosive disposal unit to investigate. Around 45 minutes later police deemed the package to be safe, containing only documents, and allowed employees and patrons back into the mall.

Police thank everyone for their patience and cooperation.
