Restaurants Stage 1 easing of restrictions June 1.

Restaurants in our city are now allowed to reopen their outdoor patios for business on June 1. This means a lot of work for local business owners, but most are thrilled and ready to go.

The owner of Honkers Pub and Eatery, Vicky Vanden Hoek, says the business is excited to be able to open again to customers for patio and takeout service, “We’re scrambling trying to get all our food and liquor ordered. Also getting staff rehired. If everybody gets vaccinated, and it lifts in June, it’ll be a dream come true for us small business people. It’s really exciting.”

Sara Figueroa, the owner of Tacos Made In Mexico, says it’ll be great to be open for outdoor dining, “It’s not the same when clients come here and eat the food for takeout. The customers want to stay here and feel the Mexican style and culture. They are so happy when that environment is very good outside. It’s a great opportunity for us now to restart everything.”

The Alberta government says there are four people allowed per table on outdoor patios.
