Polytechnic awarded $2.8 million gift towards agriculture research
Lethbridge Polytechnic is celebrating what it calls a “transformative” multi-million-dollar gift going towards operations at its Research Farm.
The Legacy gift was provided from the late Joe and Laverna Hranac, who were former sugar beet, grain and canola farmers and had a shared belief in education and a desire to invest in students and agriculture.
The Polytechnic has been conducting applied research in agriculture for more than 30 years and runs their 385-acre research farm as part of a lease agreement with the provincial government.
The Polytechnic says this gift will allow more students to be industry-connected with their agriculture research.
