NDP Education Critic Sarah Hoffman on K-6 curriculum draft

Ten school boards in the province have released statements that they do not agree with the province’s new K-6 curriculum draft. Lethbridge is on that list.

A poll from the Alberta Teachers Association finds that 90 percent of teachers and 95 percent of principals do not agree with the new curriculum.  NDP’s Education Critic, Sarah Hoffman, says a large concern for teachers and parents is that the curriculum doesn’t align with recommendations from Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

“They get what it means. You don’t need to go into the details with a five-year-old, but you can talk about the idea of being separated from your family, and your community…and that that was wrong,” says Hoffman.
