More than 25,000 Albertans book COVID-19 immunization appointments

Alberta Health Services launched its online booking system for vaccines.
Their phone lines are jammed and the government website has crashed. In its first hour of operation 2,500 Albertans aged 75 or older had reached out to book an appointment. As of 2:15 pm 25,000 Albertans have been booked to receive COVID-19 immunization.
In a statement Wednesday, AHS is urging people to be patient.
“There was significant demand when the online booking tool launched this morning and some Albertans looking to book appointments were unable to do so quickly. Bookings have continued through the morning, and the online booking tool is now functioning better”.
Health Link 811 staff are also able to book appointments. If people are having trouble accessing the site or 811, ASH encourages them to try again shortly.
Alberta and Quebec launched their initiatives Wednesday and plan to immunize this week and next. Ontario is expected to launch its online booking site on March 15.
