Mayor’s Hockey Challenge supports local food banks
The Mayor’s Hockey Challenge took place over this weekend at the ATB Centre. All the money raised from the event goes towards supporting local food banks in the city. Danielle McIntyre with the Interfaith Food Bank Society of Lethbridge says she is happy to see the city supporting the food banks through events like this one.
“You know, it’s so great for us to see the mayor and the city of Lethbridge backing the community and initiative to raise funds for the food banks. Certainly it’s a great Christmas tradition, but it’s also vastly needed right now. Every little bit that comes in right now is going to go directly into our Christmas programs and our services. And we are very grateful that this event took place over the weekend and that it is going to continue to accept donations online for the next few days,” said Danielle McIntyre with the Interfaith Food Bank Society of Lethbridge
Around three thousand dollars was raised to date from the event. A total of 240 pounds of food donations and gifts plus close to 2 thousand dollars’ worth of financial contributions were also tallied.
