Man killed, two injured in Highway 4 collision

One person was killed and another two were taken to hospital after a major collision that occurred southeast of Lethbridge on Tuesday night.

The collision was reported to Coaldale RCMP at around 8:11pm where a Volkswagen Jetta and a Mitsubishi Outlander were involved in a collision on Highway 4 near Range Road 210. A 72-year-old man from Lethbridge and the driver of the Jetta was declared dead at the scene. Two occupants of the Outlander were taken to a local hospital, afterwards one was then airlifted via STARS, and the second taken by ground ambulance, to a Calgary hospital, with serious injuries.

Highway 4 was closed in both directions for multiple hours as RCMP cleared the scene, with the incident remaining under investigation. RCMP are sending their condolences to the families of the deceased and injured victims.
