LPS strengthening resources for Street Machine Weekend

If you’re cruising around this weekend for Street Wheelers, keep an extra eye out for police. The Lethbridge Police Service will be stepping up enforcement efforts over the weekend. This comes following an increase in public complaints regarding loud mufflers, racing and stunting.

Acting Sgt. with the Traffic Unit, Brent Paxman with the LPS, says the goal of the weekend is to have a fun time, while keeping everyone safe.

LPS have been issuing tickets for equipment violations over the last several months, but say that enforcement hasn’t been a strong enough deterrent, as a result, police will be able to do on-scene vehicle inspections this weekend. Street Machine Weekend runs from July 9 to 11.
