LPS seize weapon and ammunition during traffic stop

Lethbridge Police confiscated an illegal firearm, lots of ammunition and body armour during a traffic stop on Saturday night.

Police say they also found a balaclava, handcuffs and a baton in a vehicle that was originally pulled over for speeding by Alberta Sheriffs around 11:30pm on Saturday on Metis Trail near Jerry Potts Boulevard.

The driver, who showed signs of being impaired, also refused direction to exit the vehicle. He was quickly arrested by Lethbridge Police who were later called.

Thirty-two-year-old Jamey Kenneth Jensen of Lethbridge faces various firearms offences and possession of body armour without a valid permit.

He was scheduled to appear in court earlier today.
