LPS charge man for stalking woman

Lethbridge Police have charged a 51-year-old man for stalking a woman and trying to force her into his vehicle. Police say on the evening of June 25th, an unnamed 47-year-old woman was walking near the 1000 block of 3 Avenue North.

The suspect reportedly drove past her, then circled back, exited his vehicle and attempted to solicit her. As the woman continued, police say the suspect became upset and continued to follow her before she fled to a nearby business to seek help. The suspect parked outside but eventually left the area just before police arrived. He was later located, found to have outstanding warrants, and arrested without incident.

51-one-year-old James Alfred Finch of Wetaskiwin is charged with criminal harassment, watching and besetting. Finch was remanded in custody and scheduled to appear in court August 18. However, LPS believes this is not an isolated incident and that there are more unidentified victims.

Police have released photos of Finch and his vehicle; a 1999 silver Ford F150 with a dark topper. Anyone who has been victimized, or has information that could assist investigators, is asked to call police at 403-328-4444 or Crimestoppers.
