Lethbridge takes part in Red Dress Day to honour MMIWG2S+
Red dresses were all abound outside Lethbridge City Hall Wednesday as the city honoured missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirited people (MMIWG2S+). May 5 is a National Day of Awareness for these individuals across Canada. It is also known as Red Dress Day. The final report of Canada’s National Inquiry into this tragedy found that Indigenous women are six times more likely to be victims of homicide than non Indigenous women.
