Lethbridge Pest management monitoring bug populations

Most of us love summer, but one of the big downers of this season is…the mosquitoes. The Lethbridge Pest Management team is intensifying its monitoring of areas with standing water to curb the increase of mosquitoes, gnats, and black flies. Although the current rainfall may have caused an uptick in larval activity, relatively dry conditions have kept levels under control, according to Nelson Houle, Pest Management Foreperson, Parks & Cemeteries with the City of Lethbridge. The use of natural bacteria and citizen collaboration remain key to the preventative strategy

The official says people can plant medicinal plants in their homes, such as lavender, citronella, and lemongrass to help mitigate mosquito populations.
