Lethbridge County to hold by-election

Lethbridge County Council voted on a date for a by-election for Division 5. The County did not receive any candidates for the division during the recent municipal election. The Alberta government told the County they would have to hold a by-election to have another candidate fill the vacant spot. The nomination period starts today and any interested candidates have until November 15th to fill out their papers. The new Reeve for Lethbridge County Division 2, Tory Campbell, says the County is trying to generate more interest for candidates to run.

“The team here at the county has done a great job pushing as much as they can onto social media, and using ever other form of media that we can. Between the newspapers and also every avenue available to us. I know there was discussion yesterday regarding the possibility of doing a mail-out to those residents in the division. Just to make sure that everyone is aware. I know we have had some feedback, and that there is some interest. Obviously that’s positive, and we hope that that plays out well for us.”

Advance voting will take place on December 4th, and voters can head to the polls on December 13th.
