Lethbridge artist completes first art mural as part of pilot project

When exploring downtown Lethbridge, you may start to stumble upon a few new art murals located in the back alleys. The new murals are a new initiative to give local artists a place to present their work while revitalizing the city.

The project is in collaboration between the City of Lethbridge and Heart of Our City. The first mural to go up is located just off of 4th Avenue South behind the Penny Coffee house created by local artist Brendan Browne.

Community Arts and Culture Manager with the City of Lethbridge, Jillian Bracken, says there are nine murals that will be installed around Lethbridge as part of the pilot project, with each artist having connections to the community.

Over 200 cans of spray paint were used to create the mural. The murals will be located around the downtown core as well as around the city.
