Residents in a tiny hamlet just west of the Alberta-Saskatchewan border are without water.

An emergency alert was sent out shortly after noon today to the hamlet of Walsh and surrounding area. The hamlet suffered a water main break at the local water treatment plant which resulted in a disruption in its water supply.

Residents have been told to not turn on their taps. They can pick up bottled water that’s been delivered to the local fire hall. The disruption is expected to remain in place for up to 72 hours.
