Funds to be raised for Chinook Hospital Foundation

Golfers will be taking a swing for charity on August 10. The Val Matteotti Italian Open will be teeing off at the Lethbridge Golf and Country Club with all proceeds going toward the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation and the radiology department within the hospital to provide equipment and services. The Executive Director of the foundation, Allan Bartolcic, says the fundraiser is coming back for the first time since 2019.

“It really kind of hit home for us where there had been a lot of questions even since January. When is the Italian Open? Is the Italian Open going to happen this year? It is our hope and please give us some time. Really, the decision hadn’t been made to host the open until last month. With an event like this we’re really excited to be holding it because it creates and begins that sense of normalcy. Whatever the normal is, pre-pandemic or pandemic normal is and reacquaint with people they hadn’t seen in a while. Really recreating the sense of community in a face-to-face in person environment. We’re really excited to be holding this this year.”

To date, the event has raised over $1.6 million for the foundation.
