Award nomination for beautiful Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden

The beautiful Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden is up for a special award. The organization is a finalist for the 2022 Alberta Business Awards of Distinction in the Community Attraction category. The Executive Director of the garden, Michelle Day, says this nomination is important in furthering tourism in our area.

“Even though people are coming here to learn and to experience some amazing experiences such as our karaoke, sumo, weddings, and understanding the history they’re leaving learning something and they’re holding that. I think because we have such a unique story to Canada, it’s really an honour that people are recognizing that.”

In 2019 Nikka Yuko was named one of the Top 10 North American Gardens Worth Travelling For Award. The award is given every two years by a jury made up of members from the Canadian Garden Council, the Mexican Association of Botanic Gardens, and the American Public Gardens Association.

The Alberta Business Awards of Distinction will be announced on June 24, at the Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel.
