It appears as though the Alberta government is backing down on its controversial Bill 20. That is the bill which would see the provincial cabinet have the power to fire municipal councillors and mayors. It would also force amendments or repeal bylaws that the province did not like. Former Lethbridge Mayor, Chris Spearman, says it is no wonder that municipalities pushed back on what many are calling government overreach. He says it is important for different levels of government to work together.
