Flames and Oilers fans excited about upcoming Battle of Alberta

This week’s game is sure to have the fans on the edge of their seats when the Flames and the Oilers hit the ice for Round 2 in the playoffs. We spoke to fans from each of the teams that they support and asked their thoughts heading into the first Battle of Alberta in three decades.

“It’s just going to be awesome like I was just really hoping for this because I am old enough to see all the Battle of Alberta’s since 91. Times have changed, hockey has changed, it’s gotten a lot faster. I am really hoping for just an all-out battle, I mean that’s what we are going to expect,” said Kyle Blood who will be cheering on the Calgary Flames.

“I think it’s definitely going to be interesting, I actually used to be a Calgary Flames fan and now turned Edmonton Oilers fan so It’s going to be an interesting year for me. I am nervous but hopeful,” said Erik Fehr, an Edmonton Oilers fan.

“I am not going to lie, I am more than excited for this series to kick off. I think it’s going to be a close one, but overall I think the Flames probably take it in six. I think the pendulum when we come to it, shifting in the favour of the Flames, lies solely on goaltending. I don’t think Mike Smith has what it takes to carry this Oilers team passed the Flames offence,” said Dawson Brolund, a Calgary Flames fan.

Flames and Oilers will play game one in Calgary at 7:30 p.m., on Wednesday.
