Council votes unanimous on Alberta Municipalities resolution
A vote from Lethbridge city council this afternoon will see that Alberta Municipalities advocate for the Alberta Government to make sure provincial allocations of capital funding for school construction covers all costs of the build. Deputy Mayor John Middleton-Hope says this was an important motion to bring forward to council.
“Certainly not only to those municipalities that are experiencing this pressure, but to those municipalities that perhaps haven’t experienced the pressure yet. Some of them are smaller and maybe just haven’t had that kind of experience, but it ties up substantial dollars on the municipality side that we could be using for a variety of different initiatives. I know that Ms. Mearns from BILD is here today (Tuesday), and they have provided also a letter in support of this initiative to move this forward.”
Council voted unanimously on the proposed resolution.
