Corb Lund tours in support of anti-coal mining petition

Alberta country artist Corb Lund was performing throughout our province this past weekend and stopped by downtown Lethbridge on Easter Sunday. It wasn’t just to perform though, this was part of an effort to collect signatures for a citizen initiative petition to say no to coal mining in the east slopes of the Rocky Mountains.

The Clean Water Folk Fest held at Festival Square on Sunday attracted many visitors to sign the petition, complemented with performances from various folk and country artists. Lund says they are seeing great momentum to gather signatures.

The petition kickstarted by Lund must collect over 177,000 signatures by June 10th in order to bring it to a referendum.
