Construction to bring closures on Whoop Up, Scenic Drive interchange

Work continues to expand in the Whoop Up Drive and Scenic Drive interchange that will result in its first round of road closures.

Beginning Tuesday, the Scenic Drive on-ramp from 6^th Avenue south will close, alongside the northbound Scenic Drive north right lane turn to 5^th avenue. Drivers will be detoured north onto 5^th street south, then onto 5th Avenue S back to Scenic Drive. Signage will be in place.

Once the on-ramp reopens, the City will also permanently shut down the left turnoff to Scenic Drive south from 6th avenue, as a safety review has deemed the turn as unsafe and usage has been historically low.

Crews continue to work on the first phase of adding a second lane to the Whoop Up Drive west on-ramp from Scenic Drive south.

The project in its entirety is scheduled for completion in November.
