Coaldale drops photo-radar for the rest of 2025

The town of Coaldale is getting rid of its photo radar program for the remainder of 2025. Coaldale’s Automated Traffic Enforcement photo radar program has been temporarily suspended, converting the growing backlog of tickets into warning notices.

The measure, according to Mayor Van Rijn, follows a decision made during a Special Council Meeting due to the negotiations between Canada Post and members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, as well as the Town’s own ongoing labour stoppage.

The Mayor also says the photo radar program has been suspended and school, playground and construction zones as well.

Mayor Van Rijn says that in the first quarter of 2026, the Town will go through the program once more to determine what they are going to do with it in the future.
