City of Lethbridge encouraging early property tax payments

The City of Lethbridge is telling property owners they can save a few bucks by making prepayments towards their 2026 property taxes in January and February.

The result will be a discount when 2026 tax bills are issued in May, equivalent to earning interest at one percent per year from the date of payment starting in 2026 to June 30, 2026. Prepayment amounts cannot exceed the total property tax bill for the preceding year. The earlier prepayments are received, the greater the credit applied to an owner’s 2026 tax account.

The city also adds that property owners under the Tax Installment Pre-payment Plan already receive a monthly discount on their credit balance, which is still accepting enrolment.

Payments can be made online, at City Hall in person or by drop box, their financial institution, or mail. You can find more info at http://www.lethbridge.ca/property-taxes
