Charges laid over copper thefts in Medicine Hat
Medicine Hat Police are laying more charges from a substantial copper theft investigation.
A separate investigation earlier this month led to charges on two people; Brian Aske and Chelsea Grisbrook, and the seizure of 650 pounds of copper wire. Since then, additional information has led to the identification of more suspects and offences.
Police responded to a reported break-and-enter on October 20th at a secure industrial facility in the city, where the suspects reportedly accessed by cutting perimeter fencing and stealing approximately $2,000 to $3,000 worth of copper cables and related equipment. That same day, at a residence in the city’s northwest, officers observed a large quantity of copper wire, cable casings and other items believed to have been stolen from the site. A search warrant was executed.
