Candidates say campaign signs stolen, damaged

Streets like Mayor Magrath Drive are decked with campaign signs.  And with numerous candidates looking to fill seats in council and school boards, there are a lot of signs out there.  The City sent out a tweet on Tuesday morning addressing reports from candidates that signs were being stolen.  Newcomer to municipal politics Suketu Shah says that he feels frustrated and targeted.
Shah says the cut lines on his signs are indicative of a knife being used to damage them.  Blaine Hyggen who is no stranger to campaigning says that vandalism to campaign signs is something to be expected.  But he adds that this time around, it’s different.
Shah estimates the damage to his campaign property is in excess of $2,000.  Hyggen says he is out over $4,000.
