Canadian Blood Services in need of donors following wildfires

The folks at Canadian Blood Services are urging folks to help donate blood and plasma to help with blood supply issues. The agency says summertime is already a difficult time for them to maintain their supply, and this summer has been even harder due to the wildfires in BC.

“In Kelowna alone, we’ve had to cancel about 300 plasma appointments as people deal with evacuations and the stress of the wildfires. So we’re really trying to make up those numbers as well as even with the wildfires in Alberta, although we didn’t have to cancel appointments, when those things happen, we do see less donors coming in. So this summer particularly has been really difficult.”

Over the next two weeks, Scott says they have over 200 hundred spots that need to be filled by eligible donors.
