ALPA concerned about approval of hiring foreign pilots
The Air Line Pilots Association of Canada (ALPA) is expressing its concern about the plan to hire foreign pilots through the Temporary Foreign Worker program. Carin Kenny, WestJet Encore Master Executive Chair, says the measure, which seeks to bring foreign pilots to WestJet, was approved by Government of Canada without consulting with the union. Kenny explains the solution would be to attract Canadian pilots with better salaries and schedules.
Kenny says WestJet Canada has around 3-thousand pilots combine between WestJet and WestJet Encore.
