WestJet discontinuing flights to Lethbridge & Medicine Hat

Travelers in southern Alberta will have one less mode of transportation they can utilize. WestJet says they are suspending regular service to both Lethbridge and Medicine Hat.

WestJet confirmed that their regular flights from either city to Calgary and back will end on June 24, effectively putting commercial air service in southern Alberta to an end.

In a statement to BCN, WestJet said, We can confirm that WestJet Encore will end service between Calgary and Lethbridge and Calgary and Medicine Hat. The last date of service on both routes will be June 24, 2026.”

“The decision to end air service is never taken lightly, and we understand this is disappointing news for the two communities and apologize for the impact this may have. The WestJet Group has served these routes for several years, and despite efforts to support viability, demand for the services has been insufficient.”

“Guests holding reservations for June 25, 2026, and beyond are being notified of their options for a refund.”

WestJet has been serving year-round and non-stop service from the Lethbridge Airport the airline’s main hub city of Calgary. They are the only commercial service to YQL at this time.

The move came prior to Lethbridge City Council’s meeting on Tuesday, where they are discussing a new airport workplan. An update will be provided regarding WestJet’s latest announcement.
