Lane closures coming to Whoop-Up & Scenic Drives

Beginning this weekend and continuing into the next week, commuters will need to be aware of ongoing lane closures on Scenic Drive south and Whoop Up Drive due to two separate projects.

Between May 9th to the 16^th, there will be ongoing scaffolding work underneath westbound Whoop Up Drive, plus contractors with Telus will need to access their manholes along Whoop Up and Scenic Drives.

Pylons are set up by the onramp onto westbound Whoop Up Drive from southbound Scenic Drive South.

The following changes are as so:

Saturday, May 9

Beginning at 6 a.m., the right lane of westbound Whoop-Up Drive will close. The work will shift to the left lane, extending beyond the bridge. The centre lane remains open throughout the work, meaning there will always be two lanes of traffic flowing. All three westbound lanes are scheduled to reopen by 6 p.m.

Sunday, May 10

Beginning at 6 a.m. the right lane of westbound Whoop-Up Drive will close, extending beyond the bridge. The lane is scheduled to reopen by 6 p.m.
Beginning at 9 a.m., the right lane of eastbound Whoop-Up Drive will have a partial lane closure ahead of the offramp to southbound Scenic Drive. Access to the offramp will be maintained. All lanes should reopen by 3 p.m.

Monday, May 11

Beginning at 9 a.m., the right lane of eastbound Whoop-Up Drive will have a partial lane closure ahead of the offramp to southbound Scenic Drive. Access to the offramp will be maintained. All lanes should reopen by 3 p.m.

Tuesday, May 12

Beginning at 9 a.m., the right lane of eastbound Whoop-Up Drive will have a partial lane closure ahead and beyond the offramp to southbound Scenic Drive. Access to the offramp will be maintained. All lanes should reopen by 3 p.m.

Wednesday, May 13

Beginning at 9 a.m., the right lane of eastbound Whoop-Up Drive will have a partial lane closure between the offramps to southbound and northbound Scenic Drive. Access to both offramps will be maintained. All lanes should reopen by 3 p.m.

Thursday, May 14

Beginning at 9 a.m., the right lane of eastbound Whoop-Up Drive will have a partial lane closure between the offramps to southbound and northbound Scenic Drive. Access to both offramps will be maintained. All lanes should reopen by 3 p.m.
Beginning at 9 a.m., there will be partial closures of the onramp of northbound Scenic Drive to westbound Whoop-Up Drive, including a partial closure of the right merging lane on the onramp. All lanes should reopen by 3 p.m.

Friday, May 15 & Saturday, May 16

Beginning at 9 a.m., there will be partial closures of the onramp of northbound Scenic Drive to westbound Whoop-Up Drive, including a partial closure of the right merging lane on the onramp. All lanes should reopen by 3 p.m.
Beginning at 9 a.m., the right lane of southbound Scenic Drive will close from before 5 Avenue South to beyond the offramp to westbound Whoop Up Drive. Access to the 5 Avenue South intersection and offramp to westbound Whoop-Up Drive will be maintained. All lanes should reopen by 3 p.m.

The City calls these closures necessary to support long-term infrastructure reliability.
