Vauxhall resident dies in serious collision near Scandia
Brooks RCMP say they responded to a serious motor collision on Thursday afternoon after receiving a call at 1:14pm that a semi-truck and an SUV collided on Highway 36 near Township Road 154 in Scandia. First responders including firefighters and EMS declared the driver of the SUV, a 66-year-old resident of Vauxhall, Alta., deceased.
As the investigation gets underway, preliminary information suggests that inclement weather resulted in the SUV colliding with one of the trailers from the semi-truck, which had drifted over the median. The roads suffered through poor conditions, with black ice and blowing snow causing poor visibility.
Highway 36 has since been reopened for travel. RCMP send their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
