Lethbridge Police recognized for keepting Alberta roadways safe
Seven Lethbridge Police Service officers are being recognized for their efforts to keep Alberta roadways safe. The Corporal Cumming’s Watch awards, honor officers involved in detecting and removing impaired drivers.
The program was established in memory of Corporal Graeme Cumming, an RCMP officer killed by an impaired driver in 1998.
The award was presented by Anita Huchala, president of the Lethbridge and Area Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
According to MADD, nine federal criminal charges and provincial short-term licence suspensions are handed out every hour in Canada for alcohol or drug-impaired driving.
