Research reveals around 750-thousand Canadians suffer from Alzheimer’s
September is being recognized as Alzheimer’s Awareness Month worldwide. According to the World Health Organization, 47.5 million people live with dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. Of those, about 750,000 Canadians suffer from Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. Dr. Robert McDonald, professor of neuroscience with the U of L, explains what neurodegenerative disorder is along with its symptoms. McDonald besides being mentally active, having a good diet, keeping stress levels low and exercising regularly helps to protect our brains from dementia.
