Lethbridge Police Service selling K9 Calendars to support local organizations

For the first time, the Lethbridge Police Service is selling K9 Calendars with one hundred percent of the proceeds going back to local organizations. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Service’s K9 Unit, a 12-month calendar will show all the police canines and their handlers. Constable Steve Zwartbol explains how this idea came to be.

“It’s kind of been tossed around for a few years, actually. And when we sat down last fall, prior to coming into 2023, we said, well, how can we celebrate the history of the service with the dogs and something that we enjoy to be a part of every day? So it’s an opportunity for us. That’s where it initially started, and it kind of just built from there of how can we use this to benefit? Again, some organizations that give a ton of their time and resources and that rely on private funding so as a way to give back, so that benefit to celebrate, as well as a benefit for these organizations that give so much of what they have for us.”

LPS has four dog teams with the service getting their first canine back in 1964. The calendars are available to buy for cash only at the front counter of the police station.
