It’s safe to say gender and sexuality are two of the most divisive issues being discussed online and in the public square. So how do we stop yelling and start talking? A faculty member in the social contexts of education at the University of Lethbridge, Brent Saccucci, tried to answer that question in a recent talk at the Southern Alberta Council on Public Affairs or SACPA. While there’s a lot of talk about social justice, Saccucci says it’s more important to view the discussion as social change, where we talk across the divide.
Saccucci says it’s simply about having a willingness to listen and learn. And if you don’t get the answers you want ask more questions.
