The Alberta government announced a blueprint for a provincial police service that would add 275 frontline police officers to our province’s 42 detachments. Justice Minister, Tyler Shandro, says Alberta is still studying the potential of a provincial police force. He says it is sorely needed because the RCMP’s mandate is stretched far too thin. Our legislative reporter, Tyler Dawson, explains what the provincial police force would potentially look like.
