Three YMCA volunteers in Lethbridge could be the lucky recipients of some big bucks for their post-secondary studies. The YMCA Lethbridge announced their nominees for the Ted Rogers Community Scholarship, which awards one-thousand dollars to hundreds of recipients across the country. The “Y” is hoping their two nominees will be included with the winners.
They’ve also nominated one of their volunteers for the chance at an RBC Future Launch Scholarship for Black Youth, which provides 10-thousand dollars annually for up to four years of study.
Additionally, the “Y” has honoured three lifeguards with scholarships to help them with their training and certification.
One of the YMCA Lethbridge’s employees, Matthew Clarkson, is the recipient of the one-thousand-dollar YMCA Community Commitment Scholarship. Clarkson is a student of Indigenous studies at the University of Lethbridge and won based on how he’s been able to incorporate community commitment within his work at the “Y”.
All seven nominees and scholarship recipients will be honoured at a special ceremony this Friday at the Cor Van Raay YMCA in Lethbridge
