Wildland sprinkler trailer to help LFES fire suppression efforts

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services (LFES) has acquired new equipment to enhance wildfire suppression efforts. The addition is a wildland sprinkler trailer valued at $137,000.

According to Chris Jorgensen, a qualified officer with LFES, the system is similar to the one firefighters used during the Waterton Park wildfires, which played a crucial role in protecting that community.

He explains that the sprinkler system increases humidity in the area, which helps reduce fire intensity and slows its spread, making it easier for crews to approach, suppress, or extinguish the fire effectively.

Equipped with multiple water pumps, hoses, sprinkler heads and built-in storage, the Wildland Sprinkler Trailer will enable LFES to deploy a comprehensive firefighting strategy in the face of wildfire threats.
