Warm temperatures not uncommon for mid October in Lethbridge

Southern Alberta has been seeing well above normal values for this time of year. Apparently, it has a lot to do with a ridge of high pressure that has not been moving on. There have been only two days that were below normal so far this month.

A spokesperson with Environment and Climate Change Canada says these warm conditions we are experiencing are not uncommon for Lethbridge.

“Typically this time of year we’d see temperatures more like 13 degrees for a daytime high and minus one for an overnight low. And yesterday it hit 24 degrees. So you can see we’re at 10 or 11 degrees warmer than we would typically be this time of year. You know, it’s not unusual to see 20 degree days in October Lethbridge does does average six of them in a normal year. We’ve had 11 days so far this October that have hit 20 So far, and we have three more expected for this week,” said Kyle Fougere, Meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada

Fougere says but then some colder temperatures should arrive by the weekend.
