Visa-free travel to China could increase demand: Travel Agency

As part of the latest breakthrough deal with China, Prime Minister Mark Carney shared that Chinese President Xi Jinping is committed to ensuring visa-free access for Canadians who want to visit China for tourism. This follows China’s decision in November to name Canada as an Approved Destination Status for group Chinese travelers.

Carney says the move will deepen cultural ties, earlier mentioning that over two million Canadians hold Chinese descent, and Canada welcomed 300 thousand Chinese visitors in 2024.

Tracy Hamilton, the owner of Inspired Vacations in Lethbridge says that with this latest announcement, people should soon expect new opportunities to travel to and use connections through China.

No date has been announced yet to remove vise requirements for Canadians. 45 nations, many of them European, have deals with China to visit the country for up to 30 days without a visa.
