Victory Over Japan Day marks 77th anniversary

August 15th marks the 77th anniversary that Canadian Prisoners of War were liberated as part of Victory Over Japan Day. These brave soldiers were honoured on Monday morning in Lethbridge. Many in the Canadian military fought in the Battle of Hong Kong in 1941 during World War II and were imprisoned for four years until they were rescued. As BCN’s Micah Quinn explains, family members and local dignitaries raised a flag at Lethbridge City Hall and laid wreaths at the cenotaph to mark the special occasion.
