Town of Coaldale reaches deal with AUPE

The Town of Coaldale has reached an agreement with the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees after union workers were locked out for over two months. The deal was ratified on November 10th and will remain in effect until December 31st, 2028.

The forty AUPE workers will get a 12 percent wage increase over the next four years – with the town covering 75 percent of employee benefit premiums. The two sides returned back to bargaining on October 29th following an order from the Alberta Labour Relations Board, with the town presenting the union with an offer on November 6th.

AUPE members took part in a second ratification vote on Monday after the first vote was invalidated. Employees will return to work on the 17th.
