SouthGrow Awards two Agri-food Futures Scholarships to local students
Southgrow Regional Economic Development announced Wednesday that they have awarded $1,500 scholarships to two young students, Ashley Owen from Warner County, and Brendan Shipper from Lethbridge county. The scholarship’s purpose is to advance our Agri-food sector, by highlighting local up and comers.
“It’s attracting more and more people I think. And, people who have grown up in this area have an interest in making it a better place. It’s a win-win situation. We give them a little incentive to go and further their education, and the whole region reaps the rewards,” says SouthGrow regional Chairperson, Jim Willett.
SouthGrow Regional Economic Development is an alliance of 28 communities in south-central Alberta that represents more than 180,000 people.
