Southern Alberta Art Gallery begins $7.7M revitalization project

The Southern Alberta Art Gallery, or SAAG, is set for a major transformation. The more than $7.7-million enhancement and expansion project, largely funded through federal and provincial grants, was officially launched during today’s groundbreaking ceremony. Officials say the project will include a park-side entrance and patio opening onto Galt Gardens, a food services area, an outdoor gathering and public art space, and a mixed-use workshop for exhibitions, programs and events.

SAAG will reopen its modernized building in spring 2028. During the renovations, SAAG will operate in three spaces: SAAG Acadia (616 3 Avenue South), SAAG Express (1409 Mayor Magrath Drive South) and SAAG x Excite (101 Exhibition Way South).
